NetBeez releases BeezKeeper version 14.3!

Hello community!

We’re thrilled to announce our latest release v14.3, packed with powerful new features and improvements to enhance your monitoring and troubleshooting capabilities. This update focuses on expanding functionality, improving user experience, and addressing key issues. You may read the 14.3 Release Notes at our documentation site. Dive into the highlights below:

New Features

  • Scheduled Tests for Agent Groups: Simplify test management by adding scheduled tests directly on agent groups. Any agent which is part of that group will run the Scheduled tests whenever they are triggered.
  • IPv6 Support for DNS: Enhanced compatibility with modern network protocols. Choose to run a DNS test forced to go through the IPv6 transport, and/or choose to validate the existence of IPv6 resolution (AAAA) on the DNS record.
  • Onboarding Enhancement: Automatically include a default network speed test (NDT) for new agents (default agent group).
  • Unreachable Agents Data Retention: You may now choose to delete agents that haven’t connected since a set period of time.

Improvements

This release enhances both the API and UI, making them more robust and user-friendly. API updates include a deduplication key for alerts, extended webhook URL support, and performance boosts for test cleanup. On the UI side, we’ve added dynamic Tx/Rx values, jitter, and MOS estimates, along with global character support for user names. Security-focused improvements also allow customization of TLS cipher lists for TCP sockets.

Bug Fixes

We’ve addressed several bugs to improve reliability and performance. These fixes include correcting target naming mismatches, resolving UI issues with date selection, and addressing API errors related to test results and IP handling. Additionally, backend processes like test locks and data volume cleanup have been optimized for better system stability.

Updating Your Installation

Software Repositories and Firewall Dependencies

The BeezKeeper server will automatically upgrade to the latest release on the Wednesday of next week, unless manually overridden. The upgrade will also cascade to agents. This upgrade process may take up to 30 minutes on the server side, so please DO NOT REBOOT the server during this time. Instead if you feel like the upgrade process encountered an issue please send an email to support@netbeez.net.

Ensure your network firewall is configured to allow the server to connect to NetBeez and third-party software repositories such as Ubuntu and Docker. Agents are authorized to access TCP/443 on the server. Learn more about the firewall rules required and the update process.

We hope you are getting the most out of your NetBeez deployment. As always, we are available at support@netbeez.net to answer any question or address any issue you might have.

This release is designed to deliver a smoother and more efficient experience. Explore these updates and let us know what you think! :tada:
